Film Cowichan, a Cowichan Region Economic Development initiative, operates as the film liason office for the Cowichan region. Film Cowichan works with the BC Film Commission, Greater Victoria Film Commission, and the Vancouver Island Film Association, marketing locations in the Cowichan Region to the film industryThe Cowichan International Aboriginal Festival of Film and Art is an annual intercultural event that is organized through the CIFFA Society (Cowichan Intercultural Festival of Film & Art Society) and co-hosted by Film Cowichan and the Cowichan Theatre in Duncan, the heart of the Cowichan region.
The Cowichan International Aboriginal Film Festival and the associated Youth FX program are not for profit events, organized through the Cowichan Intercultural Festival of Film & Art Society.The Cowichan is located between the two urban centres of Victoria, the capital of British Columbia and Nanaimo, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island.The Cowichan Aboriginal Film Festival shines a spotlight on many different indigenous cultures and the emerging voices of many independent film makers throughout the world. They welcome films of all genres. The festival also features exciting performances and workshops which are open to all.
